Uruguayan painters: Figari, Barradas, Torres García 1/11/2011
On November of 2011, the Foro del Sur Foundation organized a course that featured the work of Uruguayan artists Figari, Barradas and Torres García. The emphasis was set on the notion that each of them renewed the Latin American plastic language of the first decades of the 20th century. Although they did not constitute a group, each one had a preponderant role: Figari betting on an "avant-garde criollismo", Barradas moving between futurism and a very special figuration, and Torres García with his "constructive universalism" pointing at a classic balance between figuration and abstraction.
