CHACO: MEETING OF THE NETWORK OF RURAL, INDIGENOUS, AND JUDICIAL WOMEN FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE 31/7/2024
The city of Resistencia was the backdrop for another step forward in the formation of the Network of Rural, Indigenous, and Judicial Women for Climate Justice. More than seventy women representing various organizations were welcomed at the Superior Court of Justice by authorities and experts.
The aim of this activity was to share experiences and foster dialogue for a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by women in the region and within the judicial system due to issues brought about by climate change.
The hosts were represented by Víctor del Río, President of the Superior Court of Justice of Chaco, and María Emilia Valle, Minister of the same court.
The dialogues were enriched by presentations from Noelia González, member of the interdisciplinary team of the Department of Culture and Environmental Education of the Undersecretariat for the Environment of the Chaco Province; Claudia Araujo, judge of the Court of Misdemeanors in Charata; Gladys Regosky, Chamber Judge; Alejandra Genovese of the Multifueros Chamber (a court handling a variety of legal matters) in Castelli; Elia Pisarello, Judge of the Civil, Commercial, and Labor Appeals Chamber; and Gisela Oñuk, Prosecutor at the Investigation Department No. 1 of Villa Ángela. The conversation was moderated by negotiation specialist María Florencia Brandoni.
The presentation of the "Our Rights" manual was conducted by Marlise Ilhesca, Executive Director of the Foro del Sur Foundation, and Sandra Verónica Guagnino, Prosecutor specialized in Gender Violence from the Public Prosecutor's Office of Buenos Aires City.
The event concluded with the artistic experience "Sound Art MONTE Residency - Acoustic Ecology," presented by artist Camila Pose.
This initiative is organized by the Foro del Sur Foundation, sponsored by the French Development Agency (AFD) through Euroclima+, and supported by the Association of Women Judges of Argentina (AMJA), the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the French Embassy in Argentina, the Rural Women's Association of Argentina (MRA), and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).
