Sandra Verónica Guagnino

Sandra Verónica Guagnino holds degrees in Law and Legal Practice from the University of Buenos Aires. Her postgraduate education includes a Master’s degree in Judicial Administration from Unitelma Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, and a Master’s degree in Spanish Law from the University of Valladolid, Spain, where she is currently a doctoral candidate. She has also completed several postgraduate specializations in Gender and Law, Juvenile Justice, Constitutional Law, Criminology, Governance, and Organized Crime.

Throughout her professional career, she has held senior positions within Argentina’s Federal Judiciary and the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. She currently serves as an Appellate Prosecutor and Head of Specialized Prosecutor’s Office No. 1, with jurisdiction over juvenile criminal justice, gender-based violence, administrative offences, and criminal negligence cases. A defining feature of her work has been the standardization of institutional procedures. Under her leadership, her office obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification and received the National Award for Quality in the Judiciary, as well as the National Quality Award granted by Argentina’s Ministry of Modernization on two occasions.

At the institutional level, she is a founding member of the Association of Women Judges of Argentina (AMJA), where she serves as Editorial Director of the publication Juntas Somos Más. She is also the Association’s official representative on the Strategic Planning Council of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CoPE) and serves as Training Coordinator for judicial candidates at the Council of the Judiciary of the Province of Mendoza.

With a strong scholarly focus on legal doctrine, she has authored numerous book chapters and academic articles offering critical analyses of criminal procedure, criminal justice policy, and gender-sensitive legal interpretation. She also teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University of Buenos Aires, the University of Belgrano, and the University of Business and Social Sciences, and is a regular speaker at international conferences.
