FORO DEL SUR FOUNDATION SAYS FAREWELL TO HELIO JAGUARIBE
The Foro del Sur Foundation said farewell to the renowned sociologist, lawyer, political scientist and Brazilian writer Helio Jaguaribe, who died on Sunday September the 9th 2020, at 95 years of age. As an intellectual reference, he dedicated his life to institutions focused on thinking and developing Brazil's potential and made a huge contribution to thinking about the modern and democratic country. In his intense work to spread critical and strategic thinking in the region, he was a member of the Editorial Board of the Archivos del Presente Magazine.
He founded diverse and recognized spaces of intellectual thought, such as the Brazilian Institute of Economy, Sociology and Politics, the Itatiaia Group, and the historic Superior Institute of Brazilian Studies (ISEB) that formulated projects for national development based on industrialization. He was one of the greatest exponents of developmental thinking in the twentieth century.
