The war in Ukraine and the possible solutions to the impasse in the negotiations, the impact of the conflict on the global economy, and the relations between Europe and Argentina were some of the topics discussed at the meeting between Amador Sanchez-Rico and a group of 19 businessmen, trade union leaders and specialists in International Relations on April 8th, 2022. The meeting was held in accordance with the Chatham House Rule, whereby participants are allowed to discuss the issues raised provided that they do not reveal the participants or subsequently disclose what was said by a specific individual. The Chatham House Rule was designed to promote open and honest discussion on controversial or unpopular issues by speakers who may not otherwise have access to a suitable forum. At the Foro del Sur Foundation we believe that it is very important to generate spaces for plural reflection with players from the most diverse political and economic circles in Argentina.
Since September 2021, Ambassador Amador Sánchez Rico has been the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Argentina (Buenos Aires). Among several other positions he has served as Deputy Head of Division at the European External Action Service (Brussels); General Director of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Madrid); Political Counsellor of the European Union Delegation to Mexico (Mexico City); Political Counsellor of the European Union Delegation to the UN (New York); Desk Officer Africa at DG Development of the European Commission (Brussels); Spokesperson of the Vice-President of the European Commission (Brussels).
